Research has demonstrated that participation in regular, repetitive and strenuous activity (such as dragon boating) in a socially supportive environment offers benefits for those who have undergone breast cancer surgery.
Aware of this research and the success of dragon boat clubs in Canada, the United States of America and England, our Belfast-based club was formed by Joanne Rock back in March 2015.
Although we are primarily a breast cancer survivors club, we have Community Amateur Sports Club status and as such are open to the whole community - this also includes non breast cancer individuals, who make up around 25% of our membership!
